La Raza

The La Raza team will be having an evangelistic campaign on January 30th. They are planning on going door to door in the area, along with the teams from Coacalco and Cofradia, sharing the gospel and inviting the people to the presentation of the movie “Fireproof” that evening. Pray for much fruit.

We praise the Lord for continued interest from the young people who are wanting to get off the streets. Pray for Miguel, Jeny and Juanito who have all come off the streets since the first of the year.

Praise the Lord for a job for Alex and Pati’s son, Hansel. Pray that he will make a firm decision to follow the Lord and stop drinking.

Continue to pray for a speedy end to Fidel and Juana’s son, Hugo’s, court case.

Pray for wisdom as the team decides when to begin Sunday services.

Pray for the work being done on the facade of the drop-in-center. Ask that there will be no problems with the authorities.

Pray for work for Miguel.

Pray for Joe as he continues to use his Spanish and asks for more opportunities to share the Gospel. Ask the Lord for salvation for his father in Australia.

La Raza

There are some young mothers who want to get off the streets, but there is no place for the children to stay if the moms go to work. Pray about the possibility helping these young mothers.

There is a group of Haitians who are meeting with the church. Pati is giving them Spanish classes but communication is difficult. Please pray for understanding and clear communication.

The Sons of Peace have not been consistent. Pray for real commitment.

Pray for the La Raza team as they go through changes as Andrew returns to Northern Ireland. Pray for unity and peace.

Pray for Hugo, Fidel and Juana’s son, that the Lord would resolve his legal situation for His glory.

Pray for spiritual as well as physical health for all who are working with the street kids.

La Raza

Pray for Juanito, a street kid of 22 who has been on the streets since he was six years old. He can hardly walk or talk after many years of drug use but has been accepted by a Christian Drug rehab center to go for as long as he needs to recuperate. His group have tried to talk him into staying for a long time to get better.

Pray for the La Raza church as it has 8 people coming to its bible studies on Thursday nights. Only one is a Christian who is bringing family members with him.

La Raza will be having VBS from the 12-14th of August.

La Raza

Praise God for the progress made with the most recent group of street kids attending the center in La Raza. One group asked for help to paint over a mural of ‘Saint Death’ that they had painted some time ago where they live. Some kids seem ready to leave the streets. Pray that they will have the strength to make the break and for the follow-up afterward. Continue to pray more importantly for their salvation. Of the most recent group 5 have already trusted Christ.

The La Raza team also ask prayer for a breakthrough with the neighbors around the center. Although one neighbor was ‘almost persuaded’ during a recent conversation he has not yet committed his life to Christ. Pray that many will start to attend the Thursday evening service and find the answers to questions that perhaps they never knew they had.

La Raza

Praise the Lord for the five who made professions of faith this week. There was one on Monday and four on Friday. Pray for the team as they challenge these street kids to really go forward with the Lord and for the other regulars that attend the day program to trust more and more. On Friday the street kids watched the film “Facing the Giants”. Many were moved by the message. Pray they will apply it to their lives as they need to know that the giant of drug addiction can be overcome with the help of Jesus.

Pray for the La Raza team this week as they start to go to the community to assess needs and promote a talk on “Money Managing in an Economic Crisis” as a way of reaching out. The talk will be on Thursday.

La Raza

In La Raza, praise God for the kids from La Raza and Juarez groups that are coming regularly. Numbers dropped off again at the beginning of week two. With the team restarting street visitation now that they are in a routine with the day program, we expect numbers to go up. Please pray for the regular kids who are attending that they will realize the danger that they live in and put their trust completely in Jesus.

Praise the Lord for the work that is nearing completion on the drop-in-centre.  Pray that all the labor is done before January.

The La Raza church plant is scheduled to begin in January.  Ask the Lord for much fruit, for wisdom and a good start. Pray for the raising up of the church and for good time management.  They will be working in the centre in the morning and on the streets in the afternoon.

There are many who are interested in being involved in the work.  Pray for wisdom for Fidel as he coordinates the volunteers and for the right people to come along side.

Pray for the community surrounding the drop-in-centre (now to be called UNIFAM La Raza).  There are many people with many needs.

There is still no phone in the centre.  Pray that will be installed quickly. Pray for continued provision of all necessary for this ministry.

Thank the Lord for the unity of the team. Ask the Lord to continue to unite hearts and minds.

Pray for Juana as she organizes the kitchen and gets that aspect of the ministry up and running.
