Prayer requests for the “Peace and Hope” network.

MADRID

In November 2009 the Parla team sent two couples to Marriage Encounter.  In December both of these couple received Christ.   Give thanks that these two couples are being discipled by the Parla team and pray that they will be faithful to the Lord and can share their testimony with others.

We are making contacts with people who are interested in starting house churches.  Feb. 27 we will have a motivational meeting in Madrid.  Pray with us that the people who come to this meeting will be motivated and challenged by the plan that will be presented, the testimonies we will share, etc.

Pray for the new group that is being formed in Alcorcón (southeast of Madrid).  At the present time it is a discipleship group.  Pray for each one and for Luis who is leading the group.

We thank God for the date the city government of Parla has granted for the civil marriage of Juan and Patricia.  This has greatly encouraged them.  Soon we will also celebrate their church wedding.

HELLÍN

Santiago and Margarita have accepted the Lord.  They have opened their home for services and are inviting their friends who are coming each week to the meetings.  Pray for their faithfulness to the Lord and for their baptism which will take place soon.

Pray for Ignacio and Gladis, the lay pastors in Hellín and for their team - Victor y Dolores, and Adolfo and Leonor.  Pray that the unity and love in the team will be contagious and will touch those who are being reached through their witness.

BARCELONA

Give thanks for the study group in Mollerusa-Lleida that Bolivar is discipling.  Pray for their encouragement as Christ is shared with them.

Pray for the church that meets in Bolivar’s home and for Alfredo and Lourdes, a Peruvian couple who have accepted the Lord.

Pray for Lorena, Bolivar’s wife, as she is expecting a child soon.

Pray for Rubén and Katiuska en Rubí-Barcelona as they are preparing contacts to attend a talk for couples that will be held March 20.  Ask that the Lord will open the doors for a place to hold this meeting.  They have contacted 10 non-Christian couples so it would be somewhat difficult to hold this event in a home.

Pray for a Spanish-Catalán couple who Rubén and Katiusia are witnessing to.

Pray for Patricia as she spends eight weeks in Barcelona to model to the leadership in Vila Nova and Rubí the way to lead a house church.  This includes making contacts, evangelism, discipleship, etc.

CARTAGENA

Pray for the team and plans for growth for the church in
Cartagena.

ALBACETE

YOUTH GROUP

Give thanks for the growth of the youth group.  They meet the first Saturday of each month for a worship celebration.  Non-Christian friends are invited.  Between 35 and 40 youth are coming to these meetings.

Seventeen youth meet each Sunday to hear the word of God.  The team has chosen five of these young people for personal training.  Pray for this new group of leaders that is being formed.

Pray for the leadership team of the youth ministry – Luis, Débora, Karen and Patricia.

THE HOUSE CHURCH (ALBACETE)

Pray for Marian and Nuria who are leading a house church and who are witnessing to their family members.  Nuria’s family are Turkish Muslims.  Ask for God’s help for this couple.

Pray also for Nuria’s pregnancy as she has some complications.  Ask for God’s protection for Nuria and her baby.

Pray for each home that is opened every week to welcome the brothers and sisters of the church.  Pray for encouragement for each host and hostess and for the lay pastors who take the Word of God into these homes.

Pray for the encouragement of those who are attending the monthly retreat for prayer and fasting that is so special and important for the growth of God’s work.

Pray for the special baptism service March 14.

THE NETWORK TEAM

We thank God for each person who is being trained and who is putting into practice what they are learning.

We thank God for the commitment of each one of the bi-vocational lay workers and their families that give their time to be trained and to share the word of God each week in a house church.

We thank God for being able to send one of our workers to support and help with starting a house church in another city.

Pray for the training sessions planned during the next six months in each city where the network is working.

Pray for David and Gardenia’s trip to Bulgaria Feb. 17-22.  They will hold a 32-hour training meeting with a group of Bulgarian pastors.  Pray that they will communicate the vision well and that the translation will be clear, transparent and  understandable.  Rumen Gorgiev will be the translator.

Pray for David and Scott Murphy as they go to Lisbon March 11-13 for an introductory training meeting on planting house churches.  Ask the Lord to help them communicate the vision clearly to the leaders in Portugal.

Pray for the meeting that the network team will have with Dean Davis March 22-26.

Pray for strength and health for the team.

Thank you so much for your prayers for this ministry.  We are very grateful that we can count on such a large family that is united in love for God’s work and in prayer.

Peticiones de la Red “Paz y Esperanza”

MADRID

  • En noviembre ´09, el equipo de Parla, envió dos parejas para encuentro matrimonial, en Diciembre estas dos parejas hicieron su decisión de recibir a Cristo en sus vidas. Damos las gracias a Dios, estas dos parejas están siendo discipuladas por el equipo de Parla, oremos porque ellos puedan ser fieles al Señor y puedan dar testimonio entre los suyos.
  • Estamos contactando con personas que estén dispuestas a plantar iglesias en casa. El 27 de Febrero tendremos una reunión de motivación en Madrid. Ayude nos a orar para que las personas que lleguen a esta reunión, puedan ser motivadas y desafiadas con el plan que se presentará, los testimonios que utilizaremos, etc.
  • Ayude nos a orar por el nuevo grupo que está formándose en Alcorcón (sur oeste de Madrid), por ahora es un grupo de discipulado, oremos por cada uno de ellos y por Luis que está al frente de este grupo.
  • Damos las gracias a Dios por la fecha que el ayuntamiento de Parla (Madrid) a dado para celebrar el matrimonio civil de Juan y Patricia, esto ha ido de mucho ánimo para ellos; pronto celebraremos su boda eclesiástica.

HELLÍN

  • Santiago y Margarita han recibido al Señor, esta pareja a abierto su casa para realizar los cultos, ellos están invitando a sus amistades que están llegando a la reunión cada semana, oremos por su fidelidad en el Señor y por su bautismo que se realizará en los próximos días.
  • Oremos por Ignacio y Gladis, los obreros pastorales para Hellín y por su equipo conformado por Víctor y Dolores, Adolfo y Leonor, que la unidad y el amor en el equipo sea lo que contagie a los que están siendo alcanzados por ellos.

BARCELONA

  • Damos las gracias a Dios por el grupo de estudio en Mollerusa-Lleida, Bolívar se encuentra discipulando a este grupo, oremos por el ánimo de este grupo al ser predicados de Cristo.
  • Oremos por la iglesia que se reune en casa de Bolívar, una pareja de origen peruana recibió al Señor, sus nombres son Alfredo y Lourdes.
  • Oremos por Lorena, esposa de Bolívar, ellos esperan a un nuevo miembro en la familia, Lorena dará a luz en los próximos días.
  • Oremos por Rubén y Katiuska en Rubí-Barcelona, ellos están preparando contactos para celebrar una charla para parejas que se realizará el sábado 20 de Marzo. Que el Señor pueda abrir las puertas del local que se necesita para celebrar este encuentro, ellos tienen contactada diez parejas inconversas, por lo cual es un poco incómodo realizar este evento en una casa (charla para parejas).
  • Hay una pareja de españoles catalanes, que están escuchando del Señor por el testimonio de Rubén y Katiuska, oremos por esta pareja que está siendo testificada.
  • Oremos por Patricia, ella estará en Barcelona durante ocho semanas para modelar entre el liderazgo de Barcelona en Vila Nova y Rubí, la forma de llevar la iglesia en casa, esto incluye toma de contactos, evangelismo, discipulado, etc.

 CARTAGENA

  • oremos por el equipo y el plan de crecimiento de la iglesia en Cartagena.

ALBACETE

GRUPO DE JÓVENES

  • Damos las gracias a Dios por el crecimiento del grupo de jóvenes. El primer sábado de cada mes ellos se reunen para tener un culto de celebración, invitando amigos inconversos, a esta reunión están llegando entre 35 y 40 jóvenes.
  • Cada domingo llegan 17 jóvenes para escuchar de la palabra de Dios, de entre ellos el equipo escogió cinco jóvenes para iniciar una capacitación personalizada, oremos por este nuevo grupo de liderazgo que esta naciendo.
  • Oremos por el equipo de liderazgo que esta frente a los jóvenes Luis, Débora, Karen y Patricia.

LA IGLESIA EN CASA (ALBACETE)

  • Oremos por Marian y Nuria, ellos están llevando una iglesia en casa y dando testimonio a sus familiares, la familia de Nuria es Turca musulmana, ellos han iniciado a dar testimonio entre los suyos, que el Señor ayude a esta pareja.
  • Oremos también por el embarazo de Nuria, ella tuvo algunas complicaciones con su embarazo, que el Señor cuide de nuestra hermana y de su bebé que está en gestación.
  • Oremos por cada casa que se abre cada semana para recibir a los hermanos de la iglesia, por el ánimo de cada anfitrión y por los Obreros Pastorales que llevan la Palabra de Dios en los hogares.
  • Oremos por el buen ánimo de las personas que están asistiendo al retiro de ayuno y oración, cada mes se está celebrando un retiro en una casa rural para celebrar esta reunión tan especial e importante para el crecimiento de la obra de Dios.
  • Oremos por el culto especial de celebración de bautismo, un grupo será bautizado el 14 de Marzo.

EL EQUIPO DE LA RED

Damos las gracias a Dios por cada una de las personas que están siendo capacitadas y que están desarrollando lo que están aprendiendo.

Damos las gracias a Dios por la dedicación de cada uno de los Obreros laicos bi-vocacionales y sus familias que dan su tiempo para capacitarse y llevar la palabra de Dios cada semana a la iglesia en casa.

Damos las gracias a Dios por poder enviar a uno de nuestros obreros para apoyar y ayudar en otra ciudad la plantación de iglesia en casa respaldado por la iglesia local.

  • Oremos por las capacitaciones programadas para los próximos seis meses en cada ciudad donde está trabajando la red.
  • Oremos por el viaje que realizarán David y Gardenia a Bulgaria, los días 17 al 22 de Febrero para celebrar una reunión de capacitación de 32 horas a un grupo de pastores búlgaros, que ellos puedan comunicar bien la visión y que la traducción sea clara, transparente y entendible, Rumen Gorgiev será el traductor.
  • Oremos por el viaje que realizarán David y Scott a Lisboa, los días 11 al 13 de Marzo para celebrar una reunión de capacitación introductoria a la plantación de iglesia en casa. Que el Señor nos ayude a ser claros en la comunicación de la visión a nuestros hermanos en Portugal. 
  • Oremos por la reunión que mantendrá el equipo de la red con Pablo Davis los días 22 al 26 de Marzo en Albacete.
  • Oremos por las fuerzas y salud del equipo.

Una vez mas muchas gracias por sus oraciones para con este ministerio. Estamos muy agradecidos del Señor por contar con una familia tan grande que nos une el amor a su obra y la oración.

Pray for the Demai Family

Please remember our teammates, Daniel and Vanina Demai. They are such an asset to the Visión Norte team. They are gifted for the very things we as a team are trying to do in the area just northeast of Madrid. They live in the area and are involved up to their eyebrows in loving their neighbors and having people into their home for special activities including a monthly home Bible study group. Funding for the Demai family has suffered a set back and they are in need of additional, on-going, monthly support. We don’t know what we would do without them. Please pray to consider taking an interest in them, an invested interest. Their account number is 359062. Pray that all of the funds that they need will come in so they can concentrate on living and loving their neighbors without distractions.  We don’t normally mention finances in the pray blog but this is one of our big prayer requests at this time. May the good Lord direct you in your praying. Thank you.

Follow-up to Recent Activity

This past fall (2009), we had a host of ministry activities that God blessed by giving us many new friends. A lot of new ground was covered. We had the Dynamic Women in Mission group come in October. They participated in cooking classes and a day of English at our camp. Both of those activities were actually follow-ups to what happened in May when we had a group of college students come to minister. We of the Visión Norte team will be having another follow-up cooking class in February and hopefully more in March/April. Through these cooking classes we have met new people who want to do more with us. So English and cooking are activities that we will be repeating this year. Pray that the seeds that were planted in 2009 will bring forth fruit in 2010. We will be having another English Town event in May again with a group of college students. Pray also for the cooking class we will be having in February. Pray that there will be all of the ingredients necessary for the rich food for thought that will be presented. Pray that it won’t turn out to be half-baked but rather the true meat of the word served up with love, pipping hot with all the trimmings.

Choirs - Visión Norte

Paul is singing in two community choirs. Like English and computer classes, this is a great way to meet and make new friends and spread the news of God’s love and salvation. We are able to share about the visiòn of having a new church in the area. Christmas time is a special time to be able to talk about God’s salvation. Paul and Sylvia will be traveling on a bus with one of the choirs Paul is in, on Dec. 12th. They will be traveling to Calatrava, Spain (near Ciudad Real) south of Madrid about two hours. Pray that we will be able to shine like stars in the firmament.(Phil. 2:14-15) Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.

Business English

Visión Norte is using English as a way of meeting and making new friends. Friends that will one day be part of the new church that God is going to raise up in the area just northeast of Madrid. As I write this request, Sylvia is at our kitchen table with one of our former neighbors (El Casar) who wants to learn business English so she can get a better job. We also have a conversational class in our home once a week with our landlords’ son. The other classes of English are in other locations like the home of former neighbors (El Casar - but this time a different one). There are mothers and children in that class. After Christmas, Sylvia will be adding another business English class at the business of a friend of ours that sings in the choir Paul is in (Fuente el Fresno).

Thanksgiving

As I write this entry for our prayer blog, I am listening to my hometown Christian radio station on the Internet (KHCB - Houston). Oh, it is Thanksgiving day but here in Spain they don’t have a holiday set aside for giving thanks. We are going to celebrate Thanksgiving but we will do it on Dec. 5th out at our OMS Camp, Rock of Horeb. We will be having our annual retreat and we traditionally kick off our retreat by celebrating Thanksgiving. That way, our Spanish co-workers can participate. (If we celebrated on the last Thursday of November, they wouldn’t be able to participate since that is a normal work/school day for them.Our speaker for the retreat this year is Norman Bowman who is missionary living and working here in Spain at the IBSTE seminary near Barcelona. We look forward to a season of prayer and spiritual renewal. There will be about 55 of us for the dinner on the fifth. Pray that God will have his way with us.Well, it’s 1:06 p.m. in Houston now. It’s about time for the turkey dinner with all of the trimmings. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you God for all that you have done for us here in Spain.

Dynamic Women in Mission

We  have a group of women coming to Spain in October to help us meet new friends (potential, future church members) through cooking classes, an English retreat and other get togethers. Please pray for this group’s safety as they travel and also a quick victory over jet lag. Pray for a special time of fellowship and spiritual growth for the team and those who host them. May God be glorified by each facet of this adventure.
